Awards

noun: a·ward \ əˈwôrd \

a prize or other mark of recognition given in honor of an achievement

Lyons International Film Festival is pleased to announce the 2017 Film Festival Awards. It was a close contest this year. We had a remarkable slate of films that embodied our theme of trail blazing and true grit.

Had there been a category for Best Actress, Joicie Appell would’ve won for her performance in “The Tree”. She’s a remarkable woman and at 88 years young, is still hard at work in the movie biz! We were so happy she made it to the festival from Missouri as she had two films in the festival program this year.

A close tie for runner-up in the Best Short category kept us counting ballots right till the last film screened.
Congratulations to Amidst the Trees (Moshen Nabavi, Iran) “A Senior Moment” (Michelle Davidson, Missouri) and “Afternoon Tea” (Maria Fredricksson, Sweden) — all tied for Second Place for Best Short.
